Extremely Rare Andico Pike Seeker Heavy Lure Rod – 6ft One Piece – Built by Kevin Baynes on a Harrison Advanced Rods Blank

Now this is a seriously rare piece of British pike fishing history. (we have a 2nd identical rod listed separately in another listing)

An original Andico Pike Seeker Heavy Lure Rod, dating from the early 1990s and hand built by respected Staffordshire rod builder Kevin Baynes of The Anglers Workshop, using a Harrison Advanced Rods of Liverpool blank.

Kevin Baynes – a friend of SMART Preloved Tackle – has personally confirmed to us that he built these rods more than 30 years ago.

Built for Andy Nicholson, who was appearing on television at the time, with the Andico rods being built for Andy by Kevin Baynes at The Anglers Workshop.

This is the first example we have seen in more than 20 years.

This is a formidable old-school 6ft, one-piece heavy pike lure rod, designed specifically to be fished with a multiplier reel.

It features a substantial Duplon handle and traditional trigger-grip multiplier reel seat.

This is a seriously powerful rod. Although primarily a heavy pike lure rod, its substantial one-piece construction would also make it suitable for traditional heavy pike deadbaiting applications.

Most importantly, the rod remains all original and has never been broken, rewhipped or repaired.

For the collector of early British predator tackle, Harrison blanks, custom-built rods or classic pike fishing equipment, this is something genuinely unusual.

✅ THE HISTORY

Built by The Anglers Workshop in Staffordshire, using quality Harrison Advanced Rods blanks from Liverpool, Andy Nicholson asked that Kevin did not sign the rods (as is normal with his rods) as they were marketed as "ANDICO"

That direct confirmation from the original rod builder gives this particular rod a fascinating piece of provenance that simply doesn't accompany most vintage custom-built fishing rods.

This rod remains in original preloved condition.

It has never been broken, rewhipped or repaired.

As an original fishing rod now more than 30 years old, expect signs of previous use, handling and storage appropriate to its age.
